About me

Hi, I'm Siqi Lu! I'm a Ph.D. student in Computer Science at The College of William & Mary, working in the Robust and Adaptive Intelligence Laboratory (RAIL) under Dr. Ayan Mukhopadhyay. I hold an M.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Vanderbilt University and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

My research focuses on decision making under uncertainty — building AI systems that reason robustly and transparently in complex, real-world environments. I'm also interested in explainable AI and have prior research experience in biomedical imaging and remote sensing.

  1. Graduate Research Assistant — RAIL, William & Mary

    Jan 2025 — Present

    Working on decision making under uncertainty with Dr. Ayan Mukhopadhyay. Developing a user-centered explainability framework for Monte Carlo Tree Search (MCTS) using an LLM-based pipeline to generate evidence-grounded natural-language explanations.

  2. Research Assistant — HRLB, Vanderbilt University

    Aug 2023 — May 2025

    Nuclei segmentation in kidney pathology (collaboration with VUMC). Collected WSIs, implemented segmentation models, curated 400 hard patches, and annotated 200 testing images using QuPath and SAM.

  3. Research Assistant — SARL, Vanderbilt University

    Aug 2023 — May 2025

    Literature review of 59 foundation models in remote sensing (Jun 2021 – Jun 2024). Also applied active learning with UNet, SegNet, and DeepLabv3 for agriculture segmentation using Raster Vision and QGIS.
